Patterns
During the first two weeks of the new term, Junior Infants were learning about shapes. We completed the topic by revisiting patterns. The children created patterns using a variety of resources, copying patterns and also creating their own.

Aistear in Action
For January, our topic is Houses and Homes. During Aistear the children were creating various types of homes together.

November 2023-
3d Shapes
In the final week of November we learnt about 3d shapes. We went on a 3d shape hunt looking out for cubes, cuboids, cylinders and spheres!
Science Week 2023
We carried out a number of experiments indoors and outdoors. Here are two recorded experiments. In pairs, the children explored classroom objects with magnets. Outside we observed an explosive experiment involving Mentos and diet coke!
November 2023:
Fine Motor Skills- The children worked together to create a ‘road’ that meandered around the classroom. Some decided to use the blocks to see how wide the classroom was!

Signs of Autumn
We took a walk around the school looking for signs of Autumn using our tick sheets.

A Visiting Artist
The children experienced a creative workshop organised by Meath County Council. Children’s author and illustrator Tatyana Feeney guided the kids in a Monster Doodle Workshop. Tatyana started the workshop by reading one of her books and then led a creative activity.
October ’23: Maths
During October, the children focused on size, length, height, width and weight. This activity the senior infants were given challenge sheets to determine which sets of objects were heavier and lighter.
Our School Office!
Towards the end of September, our topic was ‘Our School’. Our role play area was a school office and part of this topic we interviewed our school secretary Bernie!

Fine Motor Skill Activities:
Every morning, the children start the day with fine motor skill activities.
Early Literacy/ Music
The children took part in a listening walk outdoors around the school. They used mallets to listen to and imitate familiar sounds in the immediate environment from varying sources.
