January 2023

During Catholic Schools Week, Grandparents were invited to the school on Grandparents Day. Children entertained the visitors with songs and poems. After that Grandparents were invited into the different classrooms. Finally the afternoon fun was completed with a cup of tea! 

June 2022

An open afternoon will take place on Wednesday 1st June for those children enrolling in Junior Infants in September 2022. 

Parents and children are welcome to visit the school from 2pm to 3pm on the day. 

Please ensure you have submitted your child’s completed enrolment form to the office before this date. 

May  2022

The First Holy Communion will take place on Saturday 21st May in St Mary’s Church, Moylagh.

We hope all children making the First Holy Communion and their families have a wonderful day.

Our Scholastic Book Fair is Back!! 

Parents are invited to visit the Book Fair from 2pm to 3:30pm on Wednesday 9th; Thursday 10th; Friday 11th and Monday 14th March. 

Don’t forget to dress up as your favourite Book Character on Friday 11th March.

September 2021:

Congratulations of all Pupils and Teachers involved in Pride of Place School Garden Scheme 2021. Our school has attained Level 5 We got great praise for our efforts last year. Please take some time to read the Assessment Sheet for all the judges wonderful comments!

February 2021:

5th & 6th class entered the Irish Aid – Our World Competition in relation to Global Goals, Global Citizenship and the work of Irish Aid, before Christmas.

Congratulations to Sarah Tuite for her poster entry – Irish Aid Responsibilities’! It has been selected and it will be featured in the very first issue of  Global Goal Getters – Irish Aid’s online children’s magazine this month.

December 2020:

Congratulations to Sophie Stute who received a “Certificate of Commendation” for her artwork which was entered in the 66th Texaco Children’s Art Competition. We are very proud of Sophie, whose picture reached the final stages of the judging process out of twenty five thousand enteries. Well Done Sophie!

November 2020: 

Handprints the children created for Ms Kieran’s Retirement. We wish Ms Kieran a safe and healthy retirement and thank her for all her hard work over the years in Scoil Mhuire Moylagh.

Saturday 19th September 2020

We would like to congratulate all of 3rd Class who received their First Holy Communion on Saturday. We hope that they and their families enjoyed the day. Their teachers and school community are very proud of them all. 

COVID-19 School Closure

Junior Infants Open Day: Due to the current school closure due to COVID19  our Junior Infant Open day has been postponed. We will notify parents of pupils enrolling for September 2020 when it is rescheduled.

Scholastic Book Fair is coming to the school. 

Our Three Flags:  

We are delighted to have been presented with the Healthy Ireland – Health Promoting Schools’ Flag by Carmel Halpin of the HSE on the 29th January 2020. 

The Green Schools Committee and Mrs Clarke have started work this year on “Global Citizenship – Litter and Waste” which is a two year program. Our school has already achieved 5 Green Flags – Litter & Waste; Energy; Water; Travel & Transport; Biodiversity.  

As part of our ongoing Active Schools Program we have renewed emphasis on fundamental movement skills, activities at breaks (i.e. music on Fridays) and morning running routines. Our PE Policy has also been updated. 

And of course big thanks to the two “Daddies” who erected all the flags for us recently.

Health Promoting Schools We are delighted to have been presented with the Healthy Ireland – Health Promoting Schools’ Flag’ by Carmel Halpin from the HSE on the 29th of January 2020.

  • The Healthy Ireland – Health Promoting Schools’ (HPS) Flag is presented by the HSE to schools as an acknowledgement of their work in improving the health of their school communities.
  • Over the past year Scoil Mhuire have worked with Carmel Halpin (Schools HPO) from the Health Promotion & Improvement Dept, HSE in implementing a number of health promoting initiatives, where the school, home and community came together in a ‘whole school approach’ to promote healthy eating, physical activity, positive mental health, and overall wellbeing for students, parents and staff.

Receiving the ‘Healthy Ireland –Health Promoting Schools’ Flag’ is indeed a very welcome recognition of our endeavours to promote health and wellbeing within our school community.

Pre- Loved Book Fair

​Our book fair is happening the 11th, 13th and 15th March. The books available are from young children, junior end, senior end and adult. All books will be €1 – €5.

Mickey Burke Visits

Mickey Burke (Meath Footballer, Hurler and Ireland Shinty player) presented the hurling medals to boys and girls of 5th and 6th. He stayed for a while and signed jerseys and copies! He gave a wonderful speech encouraging all the girls and boys to play for their local club ‘Moylagh.’ Well done everyone.
